The Nurse Practitioner Focus Group of Columbia, known as "NPFGC," was founded in 1996 by Patricia Kenney, MN, APRN, FNP, CS. The group was created out of a desire to facilitate Nurse Practitioner networking and continuing education in the Columbia and surrounding areas. From its grassroots, the group became incorporated in 2003 under the direction of Angela Fontana, MSN, APRN, ANP, CNS, Co-Founder and Past President. Yearly Membership includes quarterly Continuing Education Dinner Programs , inclusion in the Pictorial Membership Directory located on our website, an invitation to the state-wide NPFGC Annual Educational Workshop for Nurse Practitioners, and privilege to actively seek election on the Board of Directors.

Objectives of the group include: 1) To provide an opportunity to socialize with fellow Nurse Practitioners. 2) To promote camaraderie, fellowship and collegiality among Nurse Practitioners. 3) To promote continuing education on topics which are relevant to our practice and our profession.

With the financial support of various pharmaceutical companies, the group has been able to provide more than 100 dinner presentations and an Annual Spring Educational Workshop.

Since its inception, more than 300 individuals have attended group meetings on at least one occasion. Current membership stands at approximately 200 NPs. The Board of Directors has diligently worked to formalize the group into an official incorporation including the development and institution of Bylaws, an extensive Pictorial Directory of all members in their specialty area and an unbelievable Website which has been expanded to include membership application, monthly invitations, a message board, and much more. If you are interested in learning more about our group or would like to become a member, please continue to browse though the links at the top of the page.

We are all very proud of NPFGC's history, its current status and the bright future that lies ahead. Thanks to all who have made this group what it is today and to those who will make it a brighter tomorrow.
